As a Cambridge International school, Good Hope Country Day School offers the Cambridge Upper Secondary and the Cambridge Advanced programs for students in the Upper School (9th to 12th grades) and the upper levels of the Cambridge Lower Secondary program and the Cambridge Upper Secondary program for the Middle School (7th and 8th grades). Cambridge qualifications are valued by universities and employers around the world. Each year, Middle and Upper School students study seven subjects, typically English, History, Mathematics, Science (including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), Spanish, and two electives. For electives, students may take Art, Chorus, Band, Steel Pan, Latin Dance, Physical Education, Psychology, Astronomy, Creative Writing, and a number of other electives, as well as additional full-year core classes such as Calculus, Statistics, Environmental Science, Marine Biology, and upper level Spanish. Cambridge International in the Upper School: For 2023-24, seniors will be taking an AS-level course in college writing, juniors will be taking AS-level U.S. History, sophomores will be studying AS-level Global Perspectives, and freshmen are taking IGCSE-level Global Perspectives. In addition, 10th – 12th graders will have options for more college credit-bearing courses, including AS-level Spanish Language, AS-level Marine Science, and AS-level Computer Science, with more on the way in 2024-25. All students who take AS-level courses will have the opportunity to take the Cambridge exam in the spring of 2024 for college credit. Cambridge International in the Middle School: In 2023-24, GHCDS will be introducing Cambridge Integrated Math for 7th and 8th grades, as well as 7th grade Cambridge Science; 8th grade science will prepare students for IGCSE-level high school science. Outside of class, all students must perform 30 hours of Community Service, and students are involved in a wide range of clubs, activities, and athletics:
