Welcome from the Head of School
WELCOME HOME!
Whether you are a current family, a prospective student and family, an alum returning to reconnect, or someone discovering Good Hope Country Day School for the very first time, I am so glad you're here.
Returning to Good Hope Country Day School as Head of School is both a profound honor and a deeply personal homecoming. As a proud graduate of The Good Hope School (Class of 1993) and a native son of St. Croix, this school helped shape who I am. It challenged me, encouraged me, and instilled in me a lifelong love of learning, service, and community. As a student, I embraced every opportunity Good Hope offered—from the classroom to the stage, from the athletic fields to student leadership—and experienced firsthand the extraordinary gift of growing up in a PK–12 community where older students inspired younger ones and every child was known. To now have the privilege of leading the school that helped shape my own journey is something I will never take for granted.
Growing up on St. Croix taught me that our island is more than where we live—it is part of who we become. At Good Hope Country Day School, we often say, "The Island is our Classroom. The World is our Responsibility." Those words capture who we are. Our students learn from the extraordinary opportunities that surround them here on St. Croix while developing the knowledge, character, and global perspective to make a difference wherever life takes them.
At Good Hope Country Day School, we believe every child deserves to be known, valued, challenged, inspired, and cared for. Our dedicated faculty and staff work each day to create a learning environment where curiosity is encouraged, character is developed, and meaningful relationships help students discover not only what they can achieve, but who they can become. Their commitment to our students—and to one another—is one of the greatest strengths of our community.
GHCDS has fully implemented the internationally recognized Cambridge curriculum to meet the educational needs of our students and has adopted the Cambridge Honors system as the foundation for recognizing academic achievement. Our Cambridge International curriculum provides a strong academic foundation, and the Good Hope Country Day School experience extends far beyond the classroom. Whether students are performing on stage, competing in athletics, conducting scientific research, serving our island community, or building lifelong friendships, they are developing the confidence, compassion, resilience, and leadership skills that will serve them throughout their lives.
What makes Good Hope Country Day School truly special, however, is our people.
We are a community that believes education is built on relationships. We know that children thrive when families, educators, alumni, and friends work together in partnership. Every member of our community has something valuable to contribute, and together we create a place where students feel a true sense of belonging and are empowered to grow into thoughtful, engaged citizens of St. Croix and the world.
Whether your family's connection began at St. Croix Country Day School, The Good Hope School, or with Good Hope Country Day School today, I hope you feel the sense of belonging that has connected generations of students, families, faculty, and alumni. Our history is rich, our traditions are many, and together they have shaped the vibrant community we are proud to call Good Hope Country Day School.
As I begin this next chapter with our students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters, I am filled with optimism for what lies ahead. Together, we will honor the rich traditions that have made Good Hope Country Day School so special while embracing new opportunities that prepare our students for a rapidly changing world.
