Something SPOOK-tacular was brewing in our GHCDS Sixth Grade science classroom last week!
Our young scientists transformed into curious potion masters, carefully measuring and mixing mysterious ingredients with delightfully creepy names like witch's blood and crushed spider legs!
As their concoctions changed colors before their eyes, students observed, recorded, and discussed the surprising results, using their scientific detective skills to uncover the secrets behind each mystery potion.
But there was more science than sorcery at work!
What appeared to be a magical potion-making adventure was actually a hands-on investigation into pH, acids, and alkalis. After exploring the pH scale, students used their observations of color changes to determine whether their mystery ingredients were acidic or alkaline.
And guess what? Our Sixth Grade scientists correctly identified EVERY ingredient!
This is Cambridge learning at its most engaging, where curiosity sparks investigation, careful observation leads to discovery, and students develop the confidence to test ideas, analyze evidence, and draw conclusions.
Who knew a little Halloween hocus-pocus could lead to such fantastic chemistry?
No magic required—just curious minds, scientific thinking, and a little Panther ingenuity!
