Sometimes the most meaningful lessons happen outside the classroom—and sometimes they come with wagging tails, wet noses, and lots of puppy kisses!
On October 14, our GHCDS Senior Class rolled up their sleeves for a special Service-Learning Day at the St. Croix Animal Shelter and Pet Place, spending the day making a difference for some of our island's four-legged friends.
And our Panthers weren't afraid to get their hands dirty!
From cleaning kennels and cat rooms to pulling weeds, collecting fallen branches, and tidying outdoor spaces, our seniors tackled every task with enthusiasm and teamwork. Of course, there was plenty of time for the animals, too! Students bathed and brushed dogs, took them for walks, and spent time playing with them, offering much-needed attention, affection, and companionship.
But this day was about much more than completing a list of chores.
Service-learning brings our GHCDS core values to life, challenging students to lead with compassion, demonstrate responsibility, work collaboratively, and recognize the difference they can make in their community. By giving their time and energy to animals who depend on the kindness of others, our seniors experienced firsthand how even simple acts of service can have a meaningful impact.
We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2027 for showing that Panther Pride isn't just about what we accomplish for ourselves—it's also about what we do for others.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to the St. Croix Animal Shelter and Pet Place for welcoming our seniors and giving them this wonderful opportunity to learn, serve, and make a difference.
A LITTLE EXTRA PAW-SITIVE NEWS!
