GHCDS Athletics Update - 9.28.26

LS Baseball Practice - Spond Link (Group Code - NGZFR)

We're starting baseball practice early this year! This Thursday and Friday are the first two practices on the upper field. From 3:45-5:00 pm. Coach Rael Sackey will be coaching the LS boys this year.

 

Any new families should sign up at the above link. Returning athletes please sign up on this GOOGLE FORM. Baseball practice schedule: 10/1, 10/2, 10/8, 10/9, 10/13, 10/15, 10/16, 10/21, 10/22, & 10/23. Practices will be every Tuesday and Thursday after 10/27. 

 

Cross Country 

Meet 1 was a success! See the meet results  HERE! Meet #2 is this Wednesday, September 30th, at Renaissance Park (next to Captain Morgan) at 4:00 PM. Cross Country runners should leave class at 3:15 PM

 

Flag Football - If any MS flag football families have photos from their games please send them to me!

Volleyball

 

The JV Girls and Boys Volleyball team traveled over to St. Thomas this weekend to compete in the annual Antilles JV Volleyball Tournament. This is the 3rd year post-COVID that the girls have competed, and the 3rd year in a row, the girls won the tournament! The championship game was a nail-biting (25-20, 14-25, 20-18). Congratulations to the girls and Harper Wagner who was selected as the tournament MVP.

 

This is the first year, the JV Boys traveled over to STT to compete in the same tournament post-COVID. The JV Boys won 2nd place!

Panther of the Week
The Panther(s) of the Week is reserved for a GHCDS athlete(s) who excelled in performance or sportsmanship during the week. This week, it goes to 3rd grader, Hanako Sanders and 9th grader, Harper Wagner. 
Hanako had a standout performance in the season opening cross country meet. She finished first in the 1-mile race with a time of 7:21, almost an entire minute ahead of the 2nd place runner! 
Harper was selected as the Antilles JV Tournament Most Valuable Player, after the girls' tournament victory. Congratulations to both girls! #girlpower
