Our youngest Panthers in the Early Learning Center received a very special visit from Upper School Spanish teacher Ms. Olga Capriola, who brought a wonderful celebration of Colombian culture right into their classrooms!
Ms. Capriola arrived dressed in a beautiful traditional Colombian dance costume, giving our littlest learners an opportunity to see firsthand how clothing, music, and dance can tell the story of a country and its people.
Traditional Colombian costumes are much more than colorful clothing. Different regions of Colombia have developed distinctive styles influenced by their history, geography, music, celebrations, and ways of life. Passed down through generations and proudly worn for traditional dances and cultural celebrations, these garments help preserve and celebrate Colombia’s rich cultural heritage.
Of course, our ELC Panthers weren't content to simply look and listen—they wanted to DANCE!
With Colombian Cumbia music from the Caribbean Coast playing, the children joined Ms. Capriola in moving, dancing, and celebrating together. Even Head of School Ali Morgan joined the fun, proving that when there’s music playing in the ELC, everyone is welcome on the dance floor!
Experiences like these give our youngest students a joyful introduction to the many cultures, traditions, languages, and people that make our world such an interesting place.
