Sweet Lessons & Special Visitors For Our Littlest Panthers!

Some of the most memorable lessons happen when members of our community step into the classroom to share their stories, traditions, and a little bit of themselves—and our Kindergarten Panthers recently welcomed two very special guests!

Rebecca Hughson visited the class to share the traditions of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. Students learned about the meaning behind this special celebration and even had the opportunity to taste apples dipped in honey, a tradition symbolizing hopes for a sweet and healthy new year.

For our youngest learners, experiences like these make learning come alive. They introduce children to the traditions and perspectives of others while encouraging curiosity, thoughtful questions, respect, and an appreciation for the wonderfully diverse community around them.

Kindergarten also received a visit from Head of School Ali Morgan, who stopped by to introduce himself and spend a little time getting to know some of our youngest Panthers.

Mr. Morgan asked the students a very important question: “What do you think I do at GHCDS?”

The answers were priceless.

Some thought he works. One suggested he teaches. And several decided that his job is to help.

We think they may have summed it up pretty perfectly!

At GHCDS, community isn't something we simply talk about—it's something our students experience from their very first years on campus. It's found in the people who take time to visit a classroom, share a tradition, answer a question, tell a story, or simply sit down and get to know one another.

A very special THANK YOU to Rebecca Hughson and Ali Morgan for sharing your time with our littlest Panthers and helping make their learning a little sweeter, a little more connected, and a lot more memorable.

Here's to a sweet year of learning, growing, helping, and discovering together!
