Students Leading Students: Seniors Prepare For Our Student Symposium!

On Friday, our Middle and Upper School Panthers will come together for our Student Symposium, but this won't be a typical classroom discussion. Our seniors are taking the lead!

Led by members of the National Honor Society, seniors are preparing to facilitate conversations around this summer's All-School Reads: Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe in the Upper School and A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park in the Middle School.

And their role goes far beyond simply discussing the books.

Our seniors are developing the questions that will drive the conversations, planning activities, and preparing to facilitate mixed-grade-level groups of their fellow Panthers. They'll be responsible for encouraging participation, listening to different perspectives, keeping conversations moving, and helping younger students feel comfortable sharing their ideas.

It's a wonderful opportunity to put leadership into practice. Rather than simply being the oldest students on campus, our seniors are being asked to lead, mentor, communicate, and create meaningful experiences for others.

Middle and Upper School students: Be ready to help make the Symposium a success! Bring your summer All-School Read next Friday and take some time beforehand to revisit your notes and refresh your memory.

We can't wait to see our seniors at the helm and our Panthers learning with—and from—one another!
