GHCDS is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Mathletes at this year’s MATHCOUNTS competition, one of the nation’s premier middle school mathematics programs. MATHCOUNTS challenges students through a series of individual and team rounds, including written tests and fast-paced oral matches that emphasize problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, and collaboration—skills that are essential for success in STEM fields.
We are thrilled to recognize:
-
Simon Noellen – 5th Place
-
Hudson Mirocha – 9th Place
Under the dedicated guidance of Coach Ms. Heidi Driscoll, our students demonstrated perseverance, focus, and strong analytical thinking as they competed against top students from across the territory.
A special congratulations goes to David Vaughan, who placed in the Top 4 and will proudly represent the U.S. Virgin Islands at the MATHCOUNTS National Competition, taking place May 10–11, 2026, in Orlando, Florida. This marks the fourth consecutive year that a GHCDS student has advanced to nationals—an incredible testament to the strength of our math program.
These accomplishments reflect the core principles of the Cambridge curriculum, which emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and the application of knowledge in real-world contexts. Through experiences like MATHCOUNTS, students develop the confidence and skills to tackle complex challenges, collaborate effectively, and think creatively—preparing them for future success in mathematics and beyond.
Congratulations to all of our Mathletes for representing GHCDS with excellence and Panther pride!
