Innovation in Action: STEM at GHCDS

At Good Hope Country Day School, STEM learning goes far beyond the classroom—and our Computer Science students are leading the way. We are excited to share that students have successfully designed, coded, and published their projects from Trimesters 1 and 2, and their work is now live for the entire school community to explore.

Working in pairs and small teams, students created 21 fully functional web-based projects using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, building everything from classic games like Chess, Checkers, and Tic Tac Toe to creative, student-driven ideas such as a Sushi Personality Quiz and a Senior Trip Itinerary planner. This trimester also saw a surge of interest in game design, with students developing projects like Blackjack, Roulette, and Roulette Evolution, as well as reimagined favorites including Candy Crush, Tetris, Solitaire, Flappy Bird, and Snake. One standout achievement was the Blackjack game, developed collaboratively by the entire Middle School class—an excellent example of teamwork and shared problem-solving.

These projects are a powerful reflection of the Cambridge curriculum’s emphasis on inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and real-world application. Through this work, students are not only learning how to code—they are learning how to think like engineers and designers, tackling complex problems, testing solutions, collaborating with peers, and iterating on their ideas. This type of experiential learning builds skills that are essential for success in today’s rapidly evolving, technology-driven world.

We invite our GHCDS community to explore these impressive projects and celebrate the creativity and innovation of our students:

Each project highlights the students behind the work, and we encourage you to share your feedback and encouragement. (Please note: some projects are best experienced on a desktop or laptop.)

At GHCDS, STEM education is about more than learning—it’s about creating, collaborating, and preparing students to shape the future.
