GHCDS is bursting with Panther Pride as 8th grader David Vaughan proudly represented our school at the 53rd St. Croix District Spelling Bee, held on February 19 at the St. Croix Educational Complex Auditorium.
David took the stage alongside 11 talented students from grades 4–8 representing schools across the island, demonstrating focus, preparation, and impressive composure under pressure. Competing in such a high-level academic event takes courage and determination, and David represented GHCDS with excellence and confidence.
The competition moved quickly, concluding after 11 exciting rounds, when Rayan Felix, a 7th grader from Free Will Baptist, was crowned this year’s champion. Patricia Daytic from John H. Woodson earned the title of first runner-up.
We are incredibly proud of David for stepping up to represent GHCDS in this prestigious academic competition. His hard work and dedication are a true reflection of the Panther spirit!
A special shout-out also goes to David’s mom, Sarah, for serving as his coach and cheering him on throughout the journey.
Congratulations, David—we are proud of you for showing the island what Panther determination looks like!
