The GHCDS Climate Action Club is turning ideas into impact! Recently, Co-President Allegra Ferreras was on hand for the club’s first scheduled plastic pickup with RePlastic Recycle, marking an exciting milestone for the student-led initiative.
This achievement comes after months of planning, outreach, and dedicated collection efforts by club members. Through their leadership and persistence, the club has created a system that allows the entire school community to participate in reducing waste and supporting responsible recycling practices.
As part of the initiative, clearly labeled bins for #1, #2, and #5 plastics have been placed throughout campus, along with bins specifically designated for aluminum cans. These stations make it easy for students, faculty, and staff to contribute to the effort every day.
The first pickup represents more than just collected recyclables—it demonstrates the power of student leadership and community action. By organizing this program, the Climate Action Club is helping build awareness about sustainability while making a tangible difference on campus.
We look forward to seeing this initiative continue to grow and encourage everyone in the GHCDS community to keep participating. Small actions, when taken together, can create meaningful change!
