Meeting the Suffragettes!

Our Juniors became some of the varied voices of the Suffragette Movement and met each other in a Social Mixer, where they discovered the contributions made by women we do not usually hear about but who were critical to the movement.  These women came from all walks of life (economic class and ethnicities) in the late 1800’s through the early 1900’s, dedicating their life to social reform and women’s right to vote.  Each 11th grader researched a real person, learning about their challenges, activism, and what led them to this journey.  Then, they got into character and  shared their stories, their joys, risks, and triumphs with each other. There was a lot of laughter, engagement, and a deeper understanding of these brave women who continue to inspire us.
