This week, ten incredible young women—representing every grade from 7th through 12th—stepped off campus and onto the mats at Sunsu Dojo for a powerful Mini-Gusto experience in Women’s Self-Defense. Under the expert guidance of Sensei Anduze and Sensei Bett, our students trained not only their bodies, but their minds and voices as well.
Each morning was filled with hands-on instruction in practical defensive techniques, situational awareness, and strategies for staying safe. But the learning went far beyond physical skills. Students strengthened their spatial awareness, practiced using their personal voice with confidence, explored the importance of healthy boundaries, and discussed themes of healing, resilience, and compassion.
As the week progressed, it was clear that something deeper was happening. Confidence grew. Posture changed. Voices became stronger and more assured. The dojo became a space where physical, mental, and emotional strength were nurtured together.
This Mini-Gusto experience reminded us that empowerment is multi-dimensional. It’s about knowing your strength, trusting your instincts, supporting one another, and walking through the world with confidence and awareness.
We are so proud of these young women for their courage, commitment, and willingness to grow—and grateful to Sensei Anduze and Sensei Bett for investing in their strength and leadership.
Strong minds. Strong voices. Strong Panthers.
