Second Graders Shine at Informational Writing Publishing Party!

Our second graders took center stage with confidence and pride as they presented their Informational Writing projects during a joyful Publishing Party celebration. Through careful reading, research, and writing, students became experts on a wide range of fascinating topics—including dolphins, Martin Luther King Jr., penguins, computer games, and Sarah Hale—and eagerly shared what they learned with others.

This kind of language arts project builds essential academic skills while also strengthening students’ presentation and communication abilities. By organizing information, using evidence from texts, and explaining ideas aloud, students practice clear thinking, public speaking, and audience awareness. Presenting their work helps young learners gain confidence, develop strong speaking skills, and take ownership of their learning—all critical foundations for future academic success.

The celebration was made even more meaningful by the presence of students’ reading buddies, many of whom fondly remembered publishing their own informational writing when they were second graders. Together, students celebrated curiosity, growth, and the joy of sharing knowledge, making the Publishing Party a true reflection of the learning, confidence, and excitement happening in our classrooms every day.
