MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES - Planning for a Lasting Future

2025 – Culture & Climate, Stability, Transition

During 2025 the Board of Trustees, along with Mr. Bill Sinfield , was focused on overall cultural and climate improvement, financial stability, and transition. The cultural wellbeing of GHCDS improved with increased communication, engagement, and focus on enhancing specific academic and student service initiatives. Strategies for dealing with fiscal challenges were identified and are being implemented in a phased three-year plan. It is very challenging, but the Board is aware of the financial and enrollment

benchmarks to be achieved for success.

Additionally, the extensive and successful search for our next Head of School has resulted in the hiring of Mr. Ali Morgan, a Crucian in his soul, and a graduate of The Good Hope School. The potential for moving GHCDS forward with his familiarity of St. Croix and GHCDS, his energy and enthusiasm, and very positive personality is cause for genuine optimism

2026 – Continuing on the Path

Having built this operational foundation and setting for transition provides the opportunity for a positive launch into 2026. The GHCDS Strategic Plan was approved at the January 13, 2026 Board meeting which identifies direction and initiatives in academic affairs, student services, extracurricular life, enrollment expectations, and building and grounds planning. Once properly formatted this document will be posted on the GHCDS website.

The Board of Trustees,  recognizing  the tuition price-point we are at today, and sensitive to the economic strains of many of our families, has strategically decided to forgo implementing a tuition increase for the 2026-2027 school year. We hope that this significant decision is recognized, understood, and appreciated. To make up for the identified loss of revenue, the members of the Board are planning for the school and the Board to  work hard on fundraising. A scheduled training, and planning and implementing an

effective strategy must be, and can be a reality. We, and I personally, will be focused on real long-term support that puts GHCDS in a position for lasting sustainability. The Board is holding itself and the school accountable as we work hard to support our families.

Moving Onward

GHCDS is an amazing school, providing a quality educational and social experience for our children. In 2026 we will be turning the corner with a focus on moving in the direction of good to great. As one Board member reminded me, ‘We have to believe in ourselves. We are seeing the beginning of positive growth and development. With strategic direction and energy we can grow’ . We’ve had a year of foundational development. Working together as a community, we will see even greater success.

Sincerely,

Bradley Ebersole, Ph.D.
