Panther Pride Alert! GHCDS STEM Club Wins 1st Place!

We are thrilled to announce that our GHCDS STEM Club—Alia Hamed, Asia Williams, Vedant Mittal, Ayden Cintron, and club advisor Mr. Krigger—has won the $500 First Prize in the Crucian Coconut Festival’s Coco Promo Video Competition!

Their winning 30–60 second promotional video beautifully highlighted this year’s theme, “Coconut Alive in 2025,” and showcased the dates and spirit of the festival—all while celebrating the deep cultural, agricultural, and historical roots of the coconut in the Virgin Islands.

About the Coco Promo Competition
Participants were invited to “get creative on anything and everything coconut,” producing a short promotional video to help spread excitement for this year’s festival.
All entries were posted on the SCFIA Crucian Coconut Festival Facebook page, where likes determined the top five finalists. From those finalists, the committee selected our GHCDS STEM Club as the first-place winner!

About the Crucian Coconut Festival
Held each December at the historic Estate Bethlehem Sugar Factory, the festival celebrates the coconut through curated exhibits of agriculture, fashion, crafts, food, fine arts, horticulture, and more. It honors the farmers who preserve our island’s agricultural legacy and marks the joyful opening of the Crucian Christmas season.

Congratulations to our brilliant STEM Club members and to Mr. Krigger!
Your innovation, teamwork, and pride in our culture shine brightly.
