Superpower: The Power of Connection
With music, movement, and heart, she turns every class into a celebration of culture and connection.
Since joining the GHCDS faculty in 1995, Olga Capriola has been lighting up classrooms with her passion for language, culture, and connection. What truly fuels her superpower is watching her students grow — seeing their curiosity bloom, their confidence rise, and their appreciation for learning deepen.
Olga weaves music, movement, and storytelling into her lessons, transforming Spanish into an adventure of rhythm and joy. In her classroom, students don’t just conjugate verbs, they sing, dance, and live the language. Her creativity keeps learning dynamic, diverse, and deeply human, reminding everyone that true fluency begins with heart.
After nearly three decades at GHCDS, Olga continues to find inspiration in her students. She describes her students as passionate, curious, and inspiring. She brings that same curiosity to her own journey as a lifelong learner, currently studying Italian to better understand the challenges her students face and to grow as both teacher and student.
Fun Fact:
Ms. Capriola has been learning Italian for the past few years! Experiencing life as a language student again has deepened her empathy for her own students and inspired her to bring even more creativity, patience, and innovation into her classroom. She says it’s a reminder that learning, just like teaching, is a lifelong adventure!
