Swimmers from across the Virgin Islands gathered at the St. Thomas Stingrays
pool for the Virgin Islands Swimming Championships, held October 31–November 2. The event
brought together 87 athletes from St. Thomas, St. Croix, and the BVI for an exciting weekend of
fast swims and great sportsmanship.
Representing the St. Croix Dolphins and Good Hope Country Day School were student-athletes
Finnley Boulger, Cameron Cullinan, Cole Cullinan, Alison Lu Joseph, Caitlin Kuczynski,
Michael Kuczynski, Millie Leo, Daryan Maynard, Diella Maynard, Scott Roth, Hannah
Stewart, Tyler Stewart, Avery Vaughan, Posey Watson, Ava Whitworth, Dane Whitworth,
Emma Whitworth, Hadley Whitworth, and Hunter Whitworth. Also competing were St. Croix
Montessori student athlete Arlo Zegarelli and Eulalie Rivera Elementary student-athlete Nahui
Pellois Nakay.
Our Dolphins had an outstanding meet, earning many personal bests and top finishes. Lu Joseph
broke two 15-17 age group Virgin Islands records in the 800m Freestyle with a 9:44.16, a record
previously held by Keri Whitehurst from 2002, and in the 400m freestyle with a 4:45.22,
previously held by Lindsay Barr from 2023. Hadley Whitworth finished 2nd overall in the 8 &
under girls category, Michael Kuczynski placed 2nd overall in the 8 & under boys, Dane
Whitworth secured 3rd overall in the 9-10 boys category, Emma Whitworth took 1st overall while
Hannah Stewart finished 2nd overall in the 11-12 girls category, Ava Whitworth finished 2nd
overall in the 13-14 girls, Cole Cullinan was 1st overall in the 13-14 boys, Lu Joseph claimed 1st
overall in the 15-17 girls, and Daryan Maynard, Scott Roth, and Cameron Cullinan swept the 15-
17 boys category, finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall, respectively.

for their continued support in helping our student-athletes succeed both in and out of the pool.
