During our recent faculty workshop, GHCDS teachers and staff participated in a professional training session led by our Title IX Coordinators, Elijah Mondesir and Clarissa Nelthropp. The session focused on reviewing Title IX procedures and the ways this important federal law supports equality and safety for all members of our school community.
Title IX ensures that “no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”
At GHCDS, we are committed to upholding this standard by providing equal access to educational opportunities for every student. This training gave our faculty and staff the tools to recognize and prevent discrimination in all forms and to advocate effectively for our students each day.
The session also included a discussion on maintaining healthy and professional boundaries in both in-person and digital interactions. In today’s connected world — especially in a close-knit community like ours — it’s essential that all adults in the school environment understand how to create safe, respectful, and appropriate relationships with students.
Our team also received training on identifying, defining, and reporting sexual harassment, ensuring that all staff members understand the appropriate steps to take if they have concerns.
At GHCDS, the safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority. We are proud of our faculty and staff for their continued commitment to maintaining a learning environment that is inclusive, respectful, and protective of every student.
If any parent or guardian ever has concerns related to sex-based discrimination or sexual harassment, we encourage you to reach out directly to our Title IX Coordinators, who are available to provide guidance and support.
