GHCDS Second Grade Scientists in Action!

Our junior scientists turned the classroom into a mini laboratory this week with a colorful chemistry experiment that mixed science with a little magic! Students began by carefully pouring milk into shallow tins, then added bright drops of food coloring. When a touch of dish soap was introduced, the colors suddenly burst into motion — swirling, twirling, and dancing across the surface like a living rainbow.

With eyes wide and voices full of excitement, students observed the mesmerizing reactions while learning the science behind the spectacle. They discovered how surface tension, fats, and protein molecules in milk react to soap, setting off the movement that makes the colors glide and spin.

What began as a simple hands-on experiment quickly became a dazzling demonstration of chemistry in action, reminding our young Panthers that science is everywhere — and learning can be as magical as it is meaningful!
