This week, GHCDS 4th graders rolled up their sleeves in the classroom lab for a series of hands-on science experiments designed to ignite curiosity and make learning unforgettable. Students rotated through three interactive labs, each highlighting a different scientific concept in action:
-
Colorful Fountains – Using baking soda, food coloring, and citric acid, students created fizzy “fountains,” learning about chemical reactions and the release of carbon dioxide gas.
-
Water Rainbows – With dissolving color tablets and clear cups of water, students explored solubility and the mixing of colors to form beautiful layered “rainbows.”
-
Ping Pong Ball Experiment – By balancing a ping pong ball in a stream of air (from a hair dryer or funnel), students discovered Bernoulli’s Principle in action, which explains how differences in air pressure can keep the ball suspended.
These labs not only brought science concepts to life but also encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and lots of “wow” moments. At GHCDS, we believe that science is best learned through discovery—and our Panthers are off to an exciting start!
