Cozy Reading in 4th Grade

GHCDS 4th graders recently cuddled up with cozy blankets, pillows, and their favorite self-selected books for an afternoon dedicated purely to the joy of reading. Each student chose a book simply for personal enjoyment—no assignments, no tests, just the pleasure of getting lost in a good story.

Creating space for this kind of independent reading is vital. It nurtures a lifelong love of books, encourages imagination, and helps students see reading as a source of comfort and discovery rather than just a classroom task. By stepping away from screens and digital devices, students allow their minds to wander, worlds to expand, and creativity to flourish.

At GHCDS, we believe developing a joy for reading is one of the most meaningful gifts we can give our Panthers—one that enriches their education today and empowers them for a lifetime of learning.
