Second-Grade Scientists Design Sun-Smart Solutions!

This week, our second-grade scientists put their curiosity and creativity to the test as they explored the properties of materials used in clothing—including texture, flexibility, and absorbency. Armed with items like paper towels, brown paper bags, string, paper clips, and aluminum foil, students applied their new knowledge to tackle a real-world challenge: designing and building sun-protective hats!

The results were both inventive and impressive, as students combined imagination with critical thinking to create hats that were not only functional but full of personality. What a fun and hands-on way to connect science with everyday life!
