On Wednesday, April 30, the Class of 2025 celebrated National College Decision Day (the official date is May 1st), the day when seniors from across the country commit to their colleges. The students wore “college gear” to represent their choices, making for fun and exciting conversations (and a great photo-op!).
The highlight of the day was a slideshow of pictures of The Class over their years together, made possible with the help of the Class parents, who shared years of wonderful photos with Ms. Thatcher; the sounds and reactions from the students were heartwarming and fun to watch!
The event included the seniors writing reflections on their GHCDS experiences (words of advice, accomplishments and favorite memories) which will be displayed next to the map of the United States in the library. They wrote notes of gratitude to faculty and staff, then engaged in “Collegebound Speed Dating”, a fun exercise in sharing thoughts on their future journeys. Sitting at a large table, students sat across from one another and rotated around the table answering questions such as “Are you feeling prepared for adulting?”, “What are you most looking forward to/anxious about as you head to college?”, and “What is one thing you will absolutely need to tell your college roommate about yourself?” Lastly, they were asked to share one quality about their classmate that they valued. The game proved to be lively and engaging!
Finally, students enjoyed pizza from Pizza Mare, juice and cupcakes.
Please visit the library late next week to read the reflections and view on the map where this amazing class will be heading in the fall!
Congratulations, Class of 2025!
