5th Graders Explore, Discover, and Reconnect with Nature at Mt. Victory Camp

Our 5th graders and their chaperones recently enjoyed a fabulous and refreshing adventure at Mt. Victory Camp, an eco-retreat nestled in the lush rainforest hills of St. Croix. Just 1.8 miles from pristine white sand beaches, the camp offered the perfect setting for exploration, connection, and learning.

Surrounded by towering trees and starry skies, students hiked scenic nature trails, learned about the island’s vibrant flora and fauna, and experienced hands-on wilderness skills—from starting a campfire to cooking over it! They also crafted traditional sores (cordage) and soaked up the tranquility of their surroundings.

A highlight of the trip was a special visit from Mr. Coles, who captivated the group with his fascinating knowledge of St. Croix’s native snake species.

Huge thanks to the incredible owners of Mt. Victory Camp, for guiding hikes and offering enriching workshops. This unforgettable experience left our students not only grounded in nature but inspired by the beauty and wonder of the island they call home.
