GHCDS celebrated Earth Day with an unforgettable event, bringing together students, faculty, and special guests for a day filled with learning and community engagement.
The event, organized and led by Miss Adel, featured Pro Solar, led by Rob Fairchild and Naquita Larvette Jones, who helped set the tone for the day. Their contribution made the Earth Day celebration truly memorable. The day began with a powerful speech by Elias Rudifer, followed by a heartfelt poem from KolBert Daisley and Aah’Jahnique Morris, which emphasized the importance of environmental responsibility. Fiona Gilbert, a talented 7th grader, captivated the audience with her performance of Colors of the Wind, reinforcing the event’s theme of conservation.
The highlight of the event was the hands-on experience provided by Pro Solar, who brought a solar panel installation and a Tesla battery, offering valuable insights into clean energy solutions. They also introduced decoy batteries, which served as an educational tool for students to understand the technology behind energy storage and its role in sustainability.
Pro Solar then shared an informative and eye-opening presentation, providing more details on how solar energy and energy storage, like the Tesla battery, can shape the future of sustainable living. Their session sparked important conversations about how each of us can contribute to a greener future.
The fun continued with a trivia contest, where students eagerly participated and had the chance to win exciting Pro Solar goodie bags and merch. The event was both educational and fun, bringing the entire community together.
The day concluded with a commitment from students and staff to adopt more sustainable practices in their daily lives. From reducing waste to conserving energy, the GHCDS community is more determined than ever to make a lasting impact.
We are proud of our students and faculty for their enthusiasm and dedication to environmental stewardship, and we look forward to more initiatives that will help protect our planet for future generations.
