Our ELC Panthers had an exciting and enriching week, full of hands-on learning and joyful exploration across multiple subjects!
Science – Egg Exploration:
We dove into the world of eggs with a close examination of hen’s eggs. The children compared and described the differences between raw and hard-boiled eggs and became familiar with the various parts of an egg. Their curiosity and careful observations made for an egg-cellent science experience!
During our egg dyeing experience, the students found out that the acid in the vinegar helps the color stick to the eggs. They also learned that the eggshell soaks up the color. Additionally, the children mixed different colors of food coloring to create new colors for their eggs.
Social Studies – Easter Traditions & Earth Day:
We explored Easter and its many traditions, learning that camping is a popular custom here on St. Croix. The children eagerly shared their favorite Easter activities, with egg hunts topping the list! They had a blast decorating and hunting for colorful eggs during our classroom celebration.
To honor Earth Day, we discussed the importance of caring for our planet and introduced the Three R's: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. The children impressed us with thoughtful ideas on how we can all help keep our island clean and contribute to a healthier Earth.
It was a week full of discovery, community, and celebration—just the way we like it in Pre-K!
