1st Graders Embark on a World Adventure!

This December, GHCDS 1st graders are jet-setting around the globe, exploring the rich traditions and celebrations of different countries! With passports in hand and excitement in the air, they board their “plane” every afternoon around 2:30 to experience a new destination.

So far, their travels have taken them to:
Canada – where they witnessed the world’s largest Santa parade!
France – learning about St. Nicholas and the tradition of placing shoes out on December 5th to receive presents.
India – discovering Bodhi Day on December 8th, celebrated by Buddhists as the day Buddha gained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. Students even read the story of Prince Siddhartha and his transformative journey.
Japan – where Hanako’s mom joined us to share December traditions! The students enjoyed sushi and crafted beautiful origami creations.

And the journey isn’t over yet! Where will our curious travelers go next? Stay tuned to find out!
