Rhea Abramson, GHS ’92, GHCDS Trustee
The Good Hope School profoundly shaped who I am today. From the beginning, I was academically challenged by remarkable teachers who still stand out in my mind. GHS taught me to approach all walks of life with curiosity and compassion, fostering a sense of empathy that continues to guide me. I developed deep relationships with my fellow students and learned how to thrive in an environment rooted in hard work, mutual respect, kindness, and excellence—values that were both practiced and achieved daily.
My 14 years at the Good Hope School were the foundation of the person I’ve become. While nature gave me the DNA of a determined, get-things-done leader, nurture at GHS provided me with everything else. My exposure to theatre arts, sports, diverse literature, oration, history, art appreciation, student government, and interpersonal dynamics made me well-rounded. The faculty consistently pushed me to achieve my best while offering support and guidance when I needed it most.
Serving on the GHCDS board feels like an obligation of gratitude. The gifts I received during my time at GHS are immeasurable, and while I do not have children at GHCDS, giving back through board service feels like repaying a debt I can never fully satisfy.
Having an excellent college preparatory private school on St. Croix is essential. As alumni of Good Hope or Country Day, we carry the responsibility of ensuring the success of Good Hope Country Day School. My contributions as a Trustee are a way to support the institution that helped shape me and to keep it competitive with top private schools stateside.
Supporting GHCDS is like supporting locally-owned businesses—there’s pride and fulfillment in knowing I’ve contributed to an institution that gave me so much. Giving back ensures that future generations will have access to the same transformative education that helped me become who I am today.
